Frye Regional Medical Center was honored recently by Lifepoint Health with the company’s first ever Growth Award at an annual awards ceremony held in Dallas, Texas on February 27. The Lifepoint Health Growth Award, which will be presented annually moving forward, recognizes a hospital that has delivered impressive results in service line expansion and growth in the past year.
Frye Regional Medical Center was recognized for expanding and strengthening several key service lines in 2023 including emergency services, surgical services and cardiology. This success was achieved by support of existing physicians and providers, enhancing patient access and strengthening the hospital’s clinical workforce. From the emergency department and inpatient services to the outpatient departments, the hospital was able to serve more patients through successful recruitment and retention efforts and the addition of 24 net new RNs to its clinical staff.
In January 2023, Frye Regional celebrated the “First Flight to Frye” with the opening of its helipad which helped fuel acceptances to its Transfer Center and increased regional access to access to advanced heart and neurosurgical care. The hospital also welcomed new technology including a new CT scanner and the automated breast ultrasound system (ABUS) for enhanced breast cancer screening capabilities.
Throughout the year, the hospital received multiple accreditations and recognitions, including reaccreditation by the American College of Cardiology for Advanced Heart Failure, recognition by the American Heart Association (AHA) with the Get with the Guidelines Heart Failure Gold Plus achievement and the AHA’s Mission: Lifeline STEMI Receiving Gold Plus and NSTEMI Gold achievement and also was named a High Performing Hospital for Heart Attack and Heart Failure by the US News & World Report.
“Frye Regional Medical Center is proud to receive this award, which highlights our entire team’s commitment to continuous growth and advancement as we work to provide a higher level of care for our patients in Hickory and the Catawba Valley region,” said Dr. Phillip Greene, chief executive officer of Frye Regional Medical Center. “We are guided each and every day by our mission of making communities healthier, and we look forward to continuing this momentum into 2024 and beyond.”
The award was presented to Frye Regional leaders Greene, Lindy White, chief operating officer, John Bostwick, chief financial officer, Dr. Bridget Denzik, chief nursing officer and Connette Gill, former assistant chief nursing officer.
“In spite of a challenging operating environment last year, the Frye Regional team worked hard to ensure the hospital is well-positioned for growth and able to meet the diverse and evolving healthcare needs of its communities,” said Jason Zachariah, EVP and chief operating officer at Lifepoint Health. “We are very proud to recognize the Frye Regional Medical Center with this well-deserved award.”
